Best condo deals in Destin FL on the beach?
Looking to vacation in Destin FL over the 4th july week. Anyone recommend any good condos that are on the beach. Found a condo called Pelican something, seemed nice and reasonable. Also how are the beaches in destin? Are they clean and have nice blue water? Thanks
I lived in Destin for 5 years. I loved it. The majority of the people are friendly.
The condos are pretty much all of the same type of thing……….you walk a long way from your car to your room. Tourists always complained there weren’t enough luggage carts to get your posessions up to the rooms. You might consider having luggage on wheels, get an ice cooler on wheels and also get one of the grandma collapsable shopping carts on wheels…….
It is best to go grocery shopping around 7 AM. It is still nice and cooler out and not many people. In the afternoon and at night there are empty shelves and it is packed to the rafters with people. Publix is a really nice grocery store.
For doing sea food the grocery stores steam your shrimp, lobsters, scallops and some types of fish for free with or without seasoning. They usually have a fresh gulf shrimp and lots of fresh fish………it is so so much cheaper then eating at a restaurant there. You can even buy your fresh fish and have a fish fry or shrimp boil at your condo. The sea food markets have higher prices then the grocery stores. Save your money for entertainment.
The Gulf water has a high salt content. So you can get a rash on the inside of your thighs. Try to shave with shaving cream the night before. Use a really high UVA rating water proof sun screen. Keep on applying while in the sun. You can burn like a lobster in a half an hour. Try rinsing off every half hour or so in the fresh water showers to avoid a skin rash. If you get a bad sun burn pour cider vinegar over your body and rinse it off with tepid water. Also slather aloe on afterwards. There is a Dollar store there to buy beach toys and sundries. It is near the Wal Mart.
There is a shuttle that goes along Highway 98, it is much easier riding that then trying to drive and park. Some times it would take me two hours to go from the San Destin outlet mall to the Destin bridge about 12 miles!
Most hair types are frizzy and bushy….it is due to the high salt content in the air….I never had that problem in my life until I went there.
I use to go to Fort Walton Beach and eat at the Barnhill’s buffet……they had southern vegetables and fried foods. I don’t know if it is still there or not.
The water is warm and beautiful. It is an Emerald color when it is warm. The beaches are sugary white. It is so so easy to walk on the sand.
Enjoy your stay there……….I really miss it!!!!

I own my own condo. I am going to be travelling abroad?
I own my own condo. Lovely condo. All mine. Right by the lake. I will be travelling for a few months, back to my country. Some people will be coming into redecorate, and a co-worker coming in a couple of nights a week to work on my computer. Question: Do I need to let my Property Management Office know?
You need to check in on the rules of your Association. The office has no authority over what you do, they are your employee(s). The Board is the immediate authority, and acts on behalf of the Association, of which you are a part.
In my Association you’re required to inform the Association (through the Office) when you will be renting the property, or if there will be new vehicles registered.
You may have noise issues, for which you are responsible and may be fined if your “guests” don’t respect them. Also, you may be exceeding your parking quota (my Association allows 2 registered vehicles) though guest parking allows any vehicles for less than two days, without routine frequency.
Again, check with the regulations of your Association as they vary.

Can we roll the cost of building a swimming pool into our home loan?
We are shopping for a new home currently. We are having problems finding a home we like that has a swimming pool. Can we roll the cost of building a swimming pool into our home loan at the low interest rate we are getting for our home loan?
Not likely…and not sensible. Assuming your taking out a 30 year mortgage would mean that you would be paying for the pool for that whole time….and would end up paying over triple of what it actually costs.

I need to “skirt” insulate a log cabin and need advice?
I have a log cabin which is now our full time residence, it has radiant heat in a gypcrete slab on the floor and has a post foundation, so it is off the ground by 24 inches, I need to seal the cabin to the ground and insulate the floor and the skirting, anyone with experience out there? I am planning to do a foil/foam/foil under the cabin and “cripples” to the ground insulated in between with hardy backer where it meets earth, but I am open to ideas otherwise- thanks
Use treated lumber for the framing, and you can use Hardi plank or Hardi panel for a nicer look.
Make sure you have a way to ventilate the enclosed space you create, really damp crawl spaces (like it will be in the Spring)under cabins cause problems down the road.

ok so ive pretty much always been the jeans or khaki shorts and a tshirt or hoodie type of guy. i would like to step up my wardrobe to try to impress the ladies. im college age, so what would some suggestions be for some outfits both for class setting and for the weekend. ok thanks
I’m still in love with all the ripped jeans. They can make any boy look like a rebel … =D And, jeans shouldn’t be too baggy. Now, i’m NOT sayin’ to get guy skinny jeans, but they should be a bit snug around the legs. And also, I love those, like, plaid button ups, they look cowboy-ish, while still bein’ classy. Are there any types of stainless steel that would not attract to a magnet?
I recently purchased a supposedly stainless steel braclet on eBay but when I checked to see if it was attracted to a magnet, it wasn’t. I used the magnet to verify it was truly stainless steel.
I always thought stainless steel would be attracted to a magnet.
Helmut mentioned that 300 series not readily attracted. Does not readily mean not at all, or just barely, or what?
The 300- series stainless steels are not readily attracted by a magnet.
The 400 series are strongly attracted to a magnet.

your use of “outlet”, “plug” and “into” are somewhat confusing.
You can get a normal wall plug (male) to cigarette lighter outlet (female) adapter.
You can get a wall plug (male) to USB socket (female)
You can get a cigarette lighter plug (male) to wall outlet (female)
You *CANNOT* get a USB plug (male) to wall outlet (female) -> a USB port cannot provide enough current to power a wall outlet.
