lights outdoors

lights outdoors
What is the “trick” to hanging lights outdoors and not blowing a fuse within the strand itself?

Every year my husband and I have the same problem. We decoraye all the bushes and shrubs…etc and sometimes quickly or sometimes within a few hours they go out. Mind you we had the house built a few years ago and even put extra outlets in outside just for this reason. Every year I buy more lights thinking that is the problem.. we do try to seperate them so there aren’t too many going to the same place. Truly this is very frustrating to us . We dont believe this is an electrical problem in the house…because it also happened at ouir old house. It boggles me how people who do a way more elaborate job dont seem to have this problem. We have even seen houses that pretty much do the roof…not just the outline either and their GRASS!! Please HELP!!! Any suggestions to our problem would totally be appreciated because it is heartbreaking to spend several hours putting them up to have this occur….thank you all who can provide any insight.

Typically you cant have more than three strands connected into each other. Check your bulbs for exact specs. After you reach your limit, you have to begin a new strand.
On an extension cord with 3 outlets, I connect 9 light strands — 3 strands connected together in each of three outlets.
