Use the “Actions” palette in Photoshop to record anything you do and apply those same steps to other photos. Recording the edits to your first photo might take a little time, but then applying those changes to the other photos is really easy and is much faster than making the edits by hand. I’ve detailed the process of recording your edits first. Then I explain how to apply those edits to an entire folder full of images.

I’d recommend making a copy of the folder holding your images before you start. That way, if you make a mistake in the processing of the images, you can delete the copied folder and start over, without damaging the original images. You didn’t specify what version of Photoshop you have, but these steps haven’t changed too much over the versions.

1. Open one of the images you want to edit in Photoshop.
2. View the “Actions” panel by clicking on the palette tab, or open the palette by clicking, “Window > Actions” from the top menu.
3. Once you have the Actions palette open, create a new Action by clicking the “Create new action” button (it’s at the bottom of the palette next to the trash can), or you can click the small palette menu, located next to the tiny “x” that closes the palette.
4. Creating a new action will open the “New Action” dialog box. Give the Action a name that you can remember.
5. Press the “Record” button. Anything you do to the image that you have open will be recorded, including all of the following steps.
6. If you want to change the image to black-and-white, use the top menu and click, “Image > Adjust > Desaturate”. If you want to change the color profile of the image to Grayscale, click, “Image > Mode > Grayscale”. Remember that Grayscale and black-and-white are different. I’d recommend that you not change the color profile. Keep the image as CMYK or RGB and just desaturate it.
7. Change the resolution and image dimensions by clicking, “Image > Image Size” from the top menu. In this one dialog box you can change both properties, but you need to change the resolution before you change the dimensions.
8. Change the resolution in the appropriate field. Notice that changing the resolution also changes the dimensions.
9. Change the dimensions of the image in the “Width” and “Height” fields. It’s important to note that there are two different sets of input fields. “Pixel Dimensions” will set the size of the image on a computer screen. “Document Size” will set the measurement of the image on a printed page. It’s also important to note that the setting the same width for horizontal images and vertical images will make the vertical images too big, or the horizontal images too small. You may need to separate the horizontal from the vertical and create a separate action for each group.
10. Once you’ve made all of your alterations to this first image, save the image by using the top menu and click, “File > Save”.
11. Close the image.
12. Click the “Stop playing/recording” button on the Actions palette.

Now that you’ve stopped recording, you can playback this set of recorded steps on other images. You could do them one by one by opening the image, and pressing the “Play” button on the Actions panel (make sure to have your action selected). But, doing them one by one could take too long. The other option is to apply that action to the entire folder.

1. From the top menu, select, “File > Automate > Batch”.
2. Choose your action using the drop-down menus at the top.
3. Choose the source folder, which contains all of your images.
4. Choose your destination folder. Remember, choosing, “None, or “Save and Close”, will overwrite all of the files in that folder. It’s a good idea to make a copy of the image folder before proceeding, so that you don’t accidentally overwrite all of your images with edited files.
5. If you would like, you can even specify a naming convention for the new images.
6. Click the “OK” button to finish. Photoshop will automatically start processing the images in that folder, and applying your edits. Don’t touch anything while it’s working. It’s usually best just to sit back and let Photoshop work its magic.

Once the process is complete you can check the folder and make sure everything went according to plan. If there’s an error, you can always delete that folder and start over from another copy of the folder.

Just to address a pet peeve since I can’t think until I get it out of the way, if the activities are for a school requirement, then they aren’t a “home school” activity. After-class, school-required activities are a kind of homework. Homeschooling is a family-centered way of life, not an extension of school into the family. Nothing personal, just putting pigeons in their own holes. ;>>

In any case, what you seem to need is a log of your daughter’s sweat-inducing physical activities to present to the school as a substitute for gym class.

Since a “credit” for many school purposes is based on the formula of [1 hour per day times the number days in a school year], tracking an _average_ of 5 hours per week of sweat-producing activity ought to fulfill the needs of the gym class credit. If this isn’t what is wanted, the school will have to give you other specific instructions since it is their requirement your daughter needs to fulfill in order to be awarded their credit.

A log could be a notebook with the activity times recorded, or a sheet of gridded paper with the times filled in under each date listed across the top from left to right with each month’s total on the right.

I suppose you have a variety of choices as to how she wants to sweat. ;>
– walking a specified distance or a certain number of steps as recorded by a pedometer
– participating in a community team sport such as softball or bowling (depends on what is available in your community)
– pursuing an individual sport, perhaps with lessons: swimming, tennis, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding, bicycling, gymnastics, professional croquet …
– having regular fun with WiiFit or the Wii dance game I’ve seen advertised on television on the Nintendo Dance Dance game
– doing exercise videos at home
– dancing, with the focus either on bellies or ballrooms or squares or Ireland

Usually when you buy new rechargable batteries they have to be conditioned before use.

This means a long first charge, so it could be that this is what the charger is doing.

If you are using the charger that came with the camera (does it plug directly into the camera?), this can be a problem. It is always best to give 1st charges with a conventional battery charger, preferably one that charges each battery individually and is ‘intelligent’ enough to cut the charge when done.

You don’t mention the milliamp rating for the batteries. I suspect your camera charges at a very low rate and if the batteries themselves are a high capacity (2,500mA or above), this can take a long time.

I think it is probably safe enough to try the batteries now. Just make sure you run them flat before charging again.

It could also be that if the batteries are a very high capacity and your camera is not a recent one, then it may have trouble recognising the extra capacity of these batteries.

It’s like a mobile handset that states it will work with SD cards up to 2Gb, so if you put a 4GB in , it will either not work at all, or would just recognise 2GB of the card’s capacity.

I am a stay at home mom of 2 (4 1/2yrs and 11 months) I just found out yesterday that my 20 yr old sister is pregnant. We have another sister who is 26 and lives with her boyfriend in a 2 bdrm condo. I have a 3 bedroom home…potentailly 4. The baby’s father is not aware of the pregnancy and she doesnt plan to tell him. He is too immature and irresponsible to care for a child and he cant hold a job. She has Medicaid to cover all medical expenses and is working at Kohl’s part time.

That is ultimately a decision that you and your husband need to make. I personally would do it for my sister but I would put rules in place and let her know it is only a temp situation. I would charge 200 a month but once she has a better job and is able to get a place of her own I would continue watching her child. Personally I would do it for free considering it would be my neice/nephew but that is your decision., I might even consider just putting the rent she pays you aside for a down payment of a place of her own
